Ethics Statement

Aurelian Folds operates under a public, written ethical breeding policy. These commitments are non-negotiable and govern every decision in our cattery.

Genetic responsibility

  • Fold × Straight pairings only. No exceptions.
  • Annual orthopedic and cardiac screening of every breeding cat.
  • Public disclosure of all DNA test results to applicants on request.

Welfare commitments

  • Two litters per queen per year, maximum.
  • Retirement at age five into vetted family homes — never to a shelter.
  • No sale to brokers, pet stores, or homes intending to declaw.
  • Kittens placed no earlier than 12 weeks of age.
  • Lifetime contractual right of return.

Transparency

We publish every pairing structure, our pricing, and our health protocols. We answer every difficult question — about genetics, about the breed's history, about welfare debates — without evasion.
