Aurelian Folds is a small, family-run Scottish Fold cattery based in Cold Spring, New York. We treat every applicant's personal information with the same care we bring to our kittens. This policy explains, in plain language, what we collect, why we collect it, how long we keep it, and the choices you have at every step.
We are the sole controller of the information collected through this website. We do not sell, rent, license, or trade applicant or adopter information to any third party under any circumstance. We do not run advertising retargeting pixels, and we do not participate in data broker programs. If a policy question is not addressed here, please email us directly and we will answer in writing.
Information we collect
- Contact information you submit through our application or contact form, including your full name, email address, phone number, city, and state.
- Household details you choose to share so we can match the right kitten with the right family — number of adults and children, other resident pets, prior experience with cats, and whether the home is rented or owned.
- Correspondence records, including emails, text messages, and notes from phone or video calls, retained as part of the placement file.
- Basic, anonymized analytics on site usage — pages viewed, referral source, general geographic region, and device category. We do not associate this analytics data with your identity.
How we use your information
- To evaluate applications, answer questions, and communicate with prospective and current adopters.
- To draft, deliver, and archive the purchase contract and health guarantee associated with your placement.
- To send occasional litter announcements and cattery news, only if you have opted in.
- To honor lifetime support commitments to families who have adopted from us, including nutrition, behavior, and health guidance.
- To comply with legal obligations, respond to lawful requests, and enforce the terms of our purchase contract.
How we protect your information
Application data is transmitted over encrypted HTTPS and stored in access-controlled systems. Only the breeder and, where relevant, our contracted veterinarian have access to placement records. Physical documents are kept in a locked file in our home office. We do not store payment card numbers; deposits and balances are processed by regulated third-party payment processors that meet PCI-DSS standards.
Cookies and analytics
This website uses a minimal set of first-party cookies required for basic functionality and privacy-friendly analytics. We do not use behavioral advertising cookies. You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings without losing access to the application form.
Data retention
Applications from families we did not place are retained for twelve months and then permanently deleted. Placement records for families who adopted a kitten are retained for the natural lifetime of that cat, so we can honor our health guarantee and lifetime support commitments. You may request earlier deletion of any correspondence not tied to an active health-guarantee obligation.
Your rights
You may request a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct inaccurate information, or request deletion of your information at any time by emailing hello@aurelianfolds.com. We will respond within thirty days. Families residing in California, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, and Utah have additional statutory rights under state privacy laws, all of which we honor for every applicant regardless of residence.
Children's privacy
Our website and application process are intended for adults age eighteen and older. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has submitted personal information to us, please contact us and we will delete the record.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. The revision date at the bottom of the page will always reflect the current version. Material changes will be announced by email to families with an active placement or health-guarantee relationship.
