Terms of Service

These terms of service govern your use of the Aurelian Folds website and the process for reserving a Scottish Fold kitten. By submitting an application, paying a deposit, or otherwise engaging with the reservation process, you agree to the terms set out below. A separate, fully executed purchase contract will supersede these terms with respect to the specific kitten placed with your household.

Applications

Applications are reviewed personally by the breeder. Submitting an application does not guarantee placement of a kitten. We evaluate each application on the basis of household stability, prior cat-keeping experience, willingness to maintain indoor-only housing, and long-term commitment to the animal's welfare. We may ask follow-up questions by email, phone, or video call before making a decision.

Deposits and reservations

A five-hundred-dollar deposit secures placement on our reservation list. Deposits are fully refundable within fourteen days of payment for any reason. After the fourteen-day review window, deposits become transferable to a future litter but are no longer refundable except in the specific circumstances described in the purchase contract, including our inability to place a kitten meeting the agreed color, sex, or ear-set within twelve months.

Reservations are honored in the order deposits are received, subject to the breeder's discretion when matching kittens to families based on temperament, energy level, and household composition. We do not "sell first pick" and we do not conduct auctions.

Selection and matching

Kittens are matched with families beginning at approximately eight weeks of age, after temperament assessment. Families are invited to review a shortlist of one to three kittens that we believe are appropriate matches. Final selection is confirmed jointly between the family and the breeder. We reserve the right to decline placement to any applicant whose household we determine is not suitable, with all funds fully refunded regardless of the fourteen-day window.

Pickup and delivery

Kittens leave the cattery no earlier than twelve weeks of age, after completion of two rounds of FVRCP vaccination, microchip implantation, and a well-kitten examination by our veterinarian. We do not crate-ship kittens unaccompanied in cargo. The following pickup and delivery options are available: in-cattery pickup at our Cold Spring, New York location; flight-nanny service with a bonded, insured pet courier who accompanies the kitten in-cabin; and licensed ground courier within the northeastern United States.

Purchase price and payment

Current pricing is disclosed on the site and in your placement offer. Prices include full veterinary care through the twelve-week pickup date, TICA registration paperwork, a starter kit with familiar food and a scent-imprinted blanket, and lifetime breeder support. The balance is due no later than the day of pickup and is payable by bank transfer or certified funds.

Cancellations and returns

Life circumstances change. If you are ever unable to keep a kitten placed by Aurelian Folds, at any age and for any reason, the cat must be returned to us rather than surrendered to a shelter or transferred to a third party. This is a permanent, contractual right of return. Purchase price is not refunded on returns after the guarantee window closes, but we take the animal back without cost or judgment.

These terms and any purchase contract are governed by the laws of the State of New York. Any dispute that cannot be resolved informally will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Putnam County, New York.
